NODAWAY TOWNSHIP, Mo. - The Nodaway County Sheriff's Office said things took a different turn during a typical roadside car check-up.
Sheriff Randy Strong told KXCV/KRNW that K-9 Sergeant Hann and Deputy Newman spotted a vehicle on the shoulder of U.S. 71 Highway around 10 p.m. on Feb. 8.
Based on a K-9's reaction, deputies searched the vehicle. They found paraphernalia and a substance that field tested for methamphetamine.
Elmer Harwell, of Bedford, Iowa, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
